Aalo, 22nd Sept: – North East Frontier Technical University observed its 10th Foundation Day with all its glory in the university’s main campus. The chief guest, Brigadier Mohammad Shahid Ahmad Commander 5 Infantry Brigade accompanied by Colonel H V Kalia, 7 Jakrif Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Sharad Vashista, 5 Infantry Brigade, Lieutenant Colonel N Katwal, 7 Jakrif Battalion and a host of dignitaries were warmly received by the top officials of the university. The auspicious day was marked by the inauguration of the University Health Clinic by the honorable chief guest.
In his opening address, Dr. Tejum Padu expressed his gratitude to all eminent guests and briefly narrated the history of NEFTU and the various achievements of NEFTU. From having a diverse array of courses and even more diverse management and teaching faculties along with a vision for change, NEFTU aims to create an inclusive educational environment. From NSS students participating in the Republic Day Parade at New Delhi to the establishment of NEFTU’s Legal Aid Club, Anti Ragging and Anti-Drug Committees, NEFTU has supplemented the development of both the individual and the society. He also put forward plans to start a blended mode of learning and the active functioning of NEFTU’s main campus at Darka. He finally felicitated the chief guest followed by a series of felicitations by the Registrar and Dean of Education, Dr. Anu Devi.
The prize distribution ceremony started with the presentation of the Best Faculty Award to Mr. Amit Mazumdar, Faculty of Engineering and Technology and the Best Non-Teaching Staff Award to Komal Rai by the respected chief guest. Awards and trophies were also presented to the winners of the Foundation Cup (Football) – BA V Sem, runner up’s – NEFTU Staff team and the best player award by the Vice Chancellor. Winners of the girls’ volleyball game – B. ED 1st Sem along with the best volleyball player were felicitated by registrar, Dr. Rahul Nandi. Honors were bestowed on two of NEFTU students who had secured the 5th and 7th position in the marathon organized by the Arunachal Physiotherapy Association.
In the main address by the chief guest, he highlighted the role of individual in illuminating the achievements of the university. He laid focus on the importance of creativity, awareness, discipline, ethos and most essentially the passion of the soul in creating a society which is both equitable and just. However, distractions are something everybody should be wary of as it has increased many folds in the present times. Avoiding distraction should not be thought of as a lack of enjoyment but as a balance between work and play. He finally professed his love for Aalo and how the simplicity of the people has got him attached to this hill-locked terrain. He ended his speech by sharing his awe and respect for the NEFTU fraternity who have established a fine institution in such a remote area.
The programme was decorated by multiple cultural events by the students of NEFTU who displayed their love for the nation and culture through their various performances. The programme also witnessed the presence of prominent public leaders, principals and headmasters of various Private and Govt Schools. The day ended with Dr. Rahul Nandi expressing his gratitude to all who made the event a grand success.
